Students across Seventh-day Adventist schools throughout Honduras took part in special prayer revival programs on April 26, 2010. The special day set aside for prayer and spiritual revival was part of the Inter-American Division’s (IAD) “Constant In Prayer” initiative launched this year which emphasizes spiritual growth through constant prayer and study of the bible.
Students and teachers at the Metropolitan Adventist School in Tegucigalpa met early in the morning to sing and pray together. Students wrote prayer requests and shared testimonies of answered prayers.
One of the students named Miguel, who had been kidnapped and held by his captor for 12 days, testified to being freed after praying as he had been taught in Adventist school
“I was impressed by Miguelito’s testimony,” said Pastor Hector Sanchez, ministerial association director for the church in Inter-America, who spoke to students on the benefits of a life of prayer. “He was freed and now praises God for answered prayers.”
In the Bahia de Angel Adventist School, students were able to participate in five different prayer stations where they learned about praising and pleading in prayer, applying biblical parables, making the right choices, sang hymns, and learned how to share the gospel.
“It was so interesting to see how well behaved the students were and how well they participated in the prayer programs, especially because 90 percent of the students are non-Adventist,” said Sanchez.
According to school officials, there are eight groups of students currently studying the Bible.
“I am thankful to have been a part of this experience,” said Sanchez. “I am convinced once again that the only way that we can continue is through constant life of prayer, sharing the miracles God has done in our lives through true revival and reformation until Jesus comes.”
