As the year is drawing to a close, God’s blessing of the church in Inter-America and the membership's commitment to giving is evident once again, said Filiberto Verduzco, treasurer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America, as he began his financial report to the IAD Executive Committee earlier this month in Havana, Cuba.

“God has blessed this church abundantly during 2007,” Verduzco said. He expressed gratitude for the high level of commitment the church membership in Inter-America has shown through their contributions in fulfillment towards the mission of the church.

During the past year, he reported that there was a tithe increase of 7.55% throughout the territory from Oct. 2006 to 2007. This percentage is significant for Inter-America with its dozens of soft currencies and is slightly higher compared to average growth that the rest of the world divisions.

Tithe went up 44 percent faster than membership growth in the IAD, which surpassed the three million mark this year.

In mission offerings, he continued, there was an increase of 35% compared to last year.

As of Sep. 2007, the IAD had a 323% operating capital and 288% liquidity. This is significant increase over last year, which saw an operating capital of 257% and liquidity of 243%.

Vedurzco thanked his team of leaders and commitment to mission that the church membership in Inter-America has as he reminded leaders that resource allocation must be mission driven.

The treasurer presented the IAD financial statement, the auditor’s report for the 2006, as well as the budget for 2008. These documents were approved by the committee.
