Seventh-day Adventists in Belize have been promoting the reading and studying of the Bible with a replica of the unique traveling Bible-a multi-language Bible which has been traveling through several regions of Inter-American Division since early November.

Church leaders, members and supporters of the Corozal District began a special “Follow the Bible” parade on Nov. 20 from Belize's border with Mexico to the Calcutta Adventist Church. Top church leaders in Belize received the replica of the unique Bible before sending it off to every district in the country.

Pastor Dennis Slusher, president for the church in Belize, said in his opening remarks that the program was geared to invite every Seventh-day Adventist to go back to the Bible, God's spoken Word of wisdom, encouragement, direction and salvation.

“This is the time that each member should give a Bible to a non-Adventist neighbor, friend or family member,” Slusher said.

During the special celebration, each church leader in each district took turns reading the Bible, the start of a Bible reading marathon which ended on Nov. 23.

The Bible traveled to Belize City, where Pathfinders paraded through the main streets and arrived at Bird's Isle auditorium. After it arrived, Mrs. Zenaida Moya Flores, Mayor of Belize City and Pastor Lloyd Stanford, president of the Baptist Mission, read passages of the Bible as hundreds gathered.

The traveling Bible is scheduled to continue throughout the Inter-American territory until mid-January 2010. Although some of the 17 church regions will not be visited by the Bible during its 11-week journey through Inter-America, each church region has a replica of the unique Bible to promote its reading and value in their communities.
