The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Venezuela welcomed Adventist World Church President Pastor Ted N. C. Wilson as he arrived today in the country to take part in the 100 year anniversary of the Adventist church in Venezuela.
“We are so glad to have you with us as we celebrate 100 years of history in our country,” said Pastor Josney Rodriguez, president of the church in East Venezuela to Pastor Wilson, as dozens of Seventh-day Adventists gathered for the welcome. “Welcome to Bolivar’s land, to Venezuela, we hope that your presence here can be of great blessing to our church and the rest of the world.
“What a great privilege it is to be in Venezuela,” said Pastor Wilson, who was making his first trip to the country. “It warms my heart to see the little ones welcome me, the young people with their strength, the adults with their experience, what a privilege to be a family of God. To hear the nice band and see the Pathfinders tells me that the church is alive in Venezuela.”
Pastor Wilson will be the keynote speaker for a two-day celebration during which begins tomorrow at Caracas Polyhedron and continues on Sunday in Barquisimeto at the Feria Bicentenario. Thousands are expected to attend both events.
Tomorrow’s program will be carried live through Esperanza TV and some 20 radio stations across the nation.
“We are all looking forward tomorrow and Sunday”, said Pastor Wilson, “a time when we will give God the glory, a time when we will look back and thank God for his blessings but a time when we will look forward to greater blessings, for this is God’s Remnant Church, a special church with a special message.”
Pastor Wilson went on to thank the government of Venezuela for the religious freedom and opportunities for the church to tell people about Jesus.
Pastor Wilson was then escorted out by a group of Pathfinders and band, and later prayed with church leaders at the El Paraiso Adventist Church-the largest church in the city where members will view the live program tomorrow. There are other 178 churches and centers across East Venezuela which will transmit the historic event.
