A special offering will be collected in Seventh-day Adventist churches around the world on July 12, 2025, to support digital evangelism projects and initiatives. Part of the funds collected will directly contribute to advancing the General Conference’s Digital Evangelism Strategy for Mission, with a focus on reaching people more intentionally.
“The Inter-American Division (IAD), through its vast territory, is happy to participate in this special offering this year,” said Pastor Elie Henry, president of the IAD.
“Today more than ever, we face the challenge of bringing the message of salvation to millions who spend hours online and on social media, consuming ideas, images, and videos that offer no hope and distract from the eternal purpose,” he said. The goal of the strategy, he added, is not only to maintain an online presence, share the gospel, create content that communicates hope, and design digital outreach projects, but ultimately to lead people into a living relationship with Jesus.
Union administrators across the 25 unions in the Inter-American Division (IAD) expressed their support for promoting the special offering in their local churches during the IAD’s Mid-Year Executive Committee Meetings held last month. According to Ivelisse Herrera, treasurer of the IAD, one-third of the offering collected worldwide will fund special digital evangelism projects that will directly impact local congregations.
All funds collected in each congregation will be sent directly to the General Conference. Additionally, members attending the 62nd General Conference Session in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, will also contribute to the special offering on July 5 and 12.
Once the offering is distributed among the 13 world divisions, the portion allocated to the Inter-American Division (IAD) will be designated for approved projects submitted by local fields that directly support digital evangelism efforts across the territory, said Ivelisse Herrera, treasurer of the IAD.
“We have the opportunity to come together as a church to focus on the urgency of finding creative and innovative ways to spread the gospel,” she said, emphasizing that the digital evangelism strategy comes at a crucial time.
“Without a doubt, digital platforms and media are among the most powerful tools we have today to share the message more effectively and fulfill the mission more efficiently. That’s why the Division administration supports this initiative, is actively involved in it, and encourages all our unions, local fields, and congregations to identify with the effort and take part in promoting and collecting this offering.”
The special offering next month highlights the church’s intentional focus on digital evangelism in the coming months and years, said Herrera.
She explained that union leaders have been asked to submit proposals for digital evangelism projects, which will be reviewed by a special committee tasked with evaluating and supporting their implementation in local churches and communities.
“We envision these initiatives originating from the local churches and fields themselves, so that more members can be actively engaged and help grow this digital evangelism strategy across the territory,” Herrera said.
