An international Adventist World Radio initiative strengthened evangelism in Ecuador and resulted in more than 700 baptisms in Quito, following a week of preaching, training, and missionary work by international leaders and evangelists.
More than 50 participants from different countries took part in the program “Understanding Bible Prophecies,” held from March 27 to April 4, in coordination with the North Ecuador Mission, the Ecuador Union Conference—administrative offices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church—and the Nuevo Tiempo Network in Ecuador and Brazil.

The main focus was the spiritual and missionary strengthening of local congregations. “In an Adventist World Radio campaign—the largest radio network in the world—we seek to build up the church and support the fulfillment of the mission here in Ecuador,” said Juan López, a delegate from the Guatemala Union Conference, the administrative office of the Adventist Church in Guatemala.
Prior to the outreach, participants received training at the School of Evangelism, where strategies in preaching, communication, and media use were presented. “We have training sessions during the day in evangelism and also in communication, considering that many are radio directors and producers,” explained Pastor Eduardo Canales, director of Adventist World Radio for the Americas.

Preparatory Work in Local Churches
For ten days, the speakers were assigned to different churches in Quito and its surrounding valleys, where they carried out community outreach activities. According to Manuel Melo, president of the North Ecuador Mission, the preparation process began months earlier. “Since October, we have been working on the strategy with radio and television. Today we are seeing a missionary revival in the church,” he said.
Max Shuabb, president of the Ecuador Union Conference, also highlighted the impact of the initiative: “We are confident that by the end of this week we will reap many blessings and many souls for Christ.”

The joint work between media and church leadership was also key. “Nuevo Tiempo plays an important role by connecting Adventist World Radio with local churches and coordinating the entire process,” said Tomás Parra, director of the Nuevo Tiempo Radio Network.
The initiative concluded with decisions of faith that marked a new beginning for dozens of people, as 708 individuals gave their lives to God through baptism. “I feel very emotional because I can accept Christ in my heart and be ready for His coming,” said Cristhian Peñaranda, one of those baptized.
