Born in Santander, Colombia, Perez served as union treasurer since 2009, and previously as conference treasurer, manager of editorial house, and controller from 1980-2012. He began serving the church at age 23.

“The administration, pastoral team and staff of the South Colombia Union are saddened at the death of Perez,” said Aicardo Arias, communication director for the church in the South Colombia on behalf of the top leadership.

“He was a visionary and excellent administrator, faithful to the principles of the church and very human,” read Arias, “and was very generous when helping others and the work of God which he loved so much.”

Perez was instrumental in seeing the completion and inauguration of the new headquarters church office in North Bogota.

Perez is survived by his wife Doris, their three sons, and two grandchildren.

The Palermo Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold a funeral service tomorrow, Sep. 19, at 10:00 a.m.
