Puebla, Mexico was the third stop the traveling Bible made during its first week in Mexico and its journey through Inter-American soil. Seventh-day Adventists in the Inter-Oceanic region participated in a series of activities on Nov. 13-14 during the world church's Follow the Bible initiative to call upon authorities and the community on the importance of reading and following God's Holy Scriptures.

Church members participated in a Bible reading marathon where the Bible was read uninterrupted in 26 hours as soon as it entered the territory.

Officials who participated in the special ceremony included Bruno Garrido from the office of the secretary of government and Ricardo Federico Malco of the region's religions association affairs, representatives of the Bible Society of Mexico as well as other religious leaders and church members.

Pastor Cesar Gomez, president of the Inter-Oceanic Mexican Union received the unique Bible during a special ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 14. On behalf of the Adventist Church in the region, Pastor Gomez vowed to continue teaching the truths and promises of the Holy Book. The Bible was then read in 10 different languages by young people.

Other related activities included special exhibition booths inviting people to write and read the Bible, featuring the oldest Bible in the region, a special booth for prayer and Bible study, among other musical numbers and activities.

More than 25,000 Bibles were given away, 3,000 missionary flyers, 300 magazines and more than 100 people requested Bible studies during the program, organizers said.

The traveling Bible will continue on to the South Mexican Union, last stop in Mexico before its journey to Belize and the rest of the Central America.
