Ministerial Family Day

By Ministerial Association

About the event

It is important to show appreciation to ministerial families for their service. Not only for what they do but for their dedication. A ministerial family lives a life with the same challenges we face but they serve the church and help their members to move forward in their spiritual path.

Ideas to show appreciation:
1. Invite them to eat at your place.
2. Ask them if you can pray for a special request in their family.
3. If you have a vacation property, offer them to spend a weekend at that place.
4. Write and send them a personal thank-you note
5. Give them a present of something special you can do (knitting, photographs, a special class, etc.)
6. Give them a special homemade dessert.
7. A gift card (with a modest amount), so they can spend it on something beyond their regular budget will be greatly appreciated.
8. Invite them to a recreational activity you usually take part in but that you know they haven’t.

You can also show your appreciation as a group,
1. Organize a special meal at a park or in the church’s backyard.
2. Surprise your pastor with a special participation to honor him.
3. Show your appreciation with tea and cookies in your small group.
4. Offer a special prayer on that day.
5. Print T-shirts for the whole family with a memorable phrase such as “#1 Pastoral Family,” or something that your church can agree on.
It shouldn’t be a gesture impossible to achieve. It is just about taking the time to show appreciation to fill their energy tank for the future. Everyone likes feeling appreciated.
