Thousands of Adventist homes across the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory will become prayer centers as part of the church’s Constant in Prayer revival initiative launched earlier this year. Families will open their homes on June 10 to strengthen families, community leaders and offer hope to their neighbors.
“Our families are being threatened by many forces led by the Enemy,” says Pastor Pedro Iglesias, family ministries director for the church in Inter-America involved in the coordination of the program. “The devil looks to penetrate that sacred link in more and more subtle ways to destroy the family. Parents must arm themselves with many tools to confront this thread and prayer is the main tool that can connect us with that fountain of power which is God.”
It’s the kind of event that will have thousands of churches closed on Friday evening to focus on prayer for families and their neighbors, according to Pastor Roberto Herrera, revival and reformation coordinator for the church in Inter-America.
“We are aiming to have over 100,000 homes throughout Inter-America’s 21 church regions in fellowship with their neighbors as they pray, worship and share biblical truths for families during the Friday evening program,” said Herrera.
“Thousands of temples will not hold their vespers program that evening so that at least one million of our church members can focus and celebrate with their friends and neighbors a simple prayer meeting in their homes.”
Already, thousands of special DVDs on the importance of prayer have been distributed in the three languages, as well as suggested program flyers for the event. Special decals with the words “This House is called a House of Prayer” have been distributed to the membership throughout Inter-America.
Plans are underway to distribute thousands of Bibles on June 10. In addition, Saturday, June 11, churches will hold baptismal ceremonies throughout the IAD.
