Below is a transcript of a message addressed to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America from President of the Inter-American Division, Elie Henry–IAD News Staff

February 4, 2022 | Miami, Florida, United States | By: Elie Henry, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America

Hi there, I am happy to greet you once again on this Sabbath, February 5th, precisely the day that the Seventh-day Adventist Church, throughout the world, places a special emphasis on personal outreach.

The gospels in the Bible record many examples of witnessing. Surely you remember when Jesus found and healed “a man who had a withered hand.” While the scribes and Pharisees were ready to question what he was doing, the Lord asked them, ” Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill?”

As they looked at him angrily, he answered that question by healing the man.

As a church we have many witnessing, evangelism, social work and mission activities, but the emphasis today is to care personally for those around us, starting with our friends, neighbors and family members. Activities that we can practice on the street, at school, in the workplace, anywhere.

I want to invite you to visit the Inter-American Division’s website, where you will find many ideas that you can implement, but above all, I invite you to follow the example of Jesus, in personal witnessing.

Ellen White wrote: “Jesus came in personal contact with men. He did not stand aloof and apart from those who needed His help. He entered the homes of men, comforted the mourner, healed the sick, aroused the careless, and went about doing good. And if we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, we must do as He did. We must give men the same kind of help that He gave.” (The Review and Herald, April 24, 1888).

May the Lord help us today, but also permanently to testify for Him, so that others see in us His love and goodness.
