Daily reflections and practical challenges encourage members to become agents of healing and hope throughout the Inter-American Division.

The Inter-American Division (IAD) is inviting members across its territory to participate in the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s annual enditnow® campaign against abuse and violence, centered on this year’s theme, “Moved with Compassion,” beginning in August.
Led by the IAD’s women’s ministries and children and adolescent ministries departments, the month-long initiative will feature 31 consecutive days of digital content, including daily social media videos, reflections and practical challenges designed to help members practice compassion at home, in their churches and throughout their communities.
“For many years we focused primarily on one special Sabbath in August, but this year we want to broaden the conversation throughout the entire month,” said Sandra Pinto, Women’s Ministries and Children and Adolescent Ministries director for the IAD, during a recent podcast with assistant director Beny Páez. “There are many forms of abuse, and we want to bring hope by showing how compassion can help both those experiencing abuse and those who witness it.”
Putting Compassion Into Action
Beginning Aug. 1, viewers can follow the daily campaign on the IAD’s social media platforms, where each day will feature a short video reflection (Reel), a practical compassion challenge and a shareable digital card encouraging participants to put biblical compassion into action. Church members are encouraged to share the content widely to extend its reach beyond Adventist congregations into local communities.
“Moved with Compassion” highlights the reality that violence is not always physical, Pinto said. Many people carry unseen wounds caused by neglect, indifference, verbal abuse or other hurtful experiences. The campaign encourages members to notice those hidden struggles and become agents of healing by responding with Christlike compassion.
Throughout the podcast, Pinto stressed that genuine compassion begins with Jesus’ example and includes learning to treat oneself and others with grace. She also highlighted the value of professional counseling alongside biblical principles, noting that healing often requires both spiritual support and qualified guidance.
Rather than limiting the initiative to churches, organizers are encouraging members to take the resources into their neighborhoods, schools and families by listening without judgment, offering practical assistance and creating safe spaces where hurting people can find hope.
A Special Sabbath Emphasis
The annual campaign will include a special enditnow® program and seminar on the fourth Sabbath, Aug. 22, focused on breaking cycles of violence through compassion and practical ministry.
Pinto urged members to join the initiative from its opening day.
“Connect with us each day,” she said. “There will be a meaningful reflection, a daily challenge, and a card reminding us how and with whom we can practice compassion. Share the videos with others so this message can spread far beyond our churches.”
Carrying Compassion Beyond August
The Seventh-day Adventist Church launched the global enditnow® initiative 16 years ago to raise awareness and mobilize churches and communities to prevent violence against women, children and other vulnerable individuals.
This year’s campaign seeks to reinforce that mission by encouraging members to become “carriers of compassion” every day, not only during August, but throughout the year.
