Seventeen months after Hope Channel Inter-America was officially launched, Seventh-day Adventist leaders are aiming for greater collaboration among its regional church leadership and multiple media centers across the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory. The goal is to increase the visibility of the television channel to reach millions with the message of hope and salvation.

Church administrators, channel coordinators, communication directors, media center staff and production teams were called upon to strengthen the image, vision and mission of the channel during a special online training held on Mar. 6, 2018, from the IAD Office in Miami, Florida.

“Those of us who work in Hope Channel Inter-America have a hope that we want to share and if we are a channel that offers hope, we need to grow in that hope so that we can strengthen our spiritual identity and share with those persons who are connecting with the gospel through this great mission,” said Abel Márquez, director of Hope Channel Inter-America, as the two-hour online program began.

Strengthening spiritual identity means understanding communication as a divine instrument from God to fulfill the mission on earth, said Pastor Josney Rodríguez, ministerial secretary for the church in Inter-America and chaplain of Hope Channel Inter-America.

“If Jesus Christ was here, He would understand the role that communication plays and would have invested more in fulfilling the mission,” said Pastor Rodríguez. “It doesn’t matter what specific task you are doing for this television channel, you need to be God’s instrument, have a constant relationship with the Lord and live a life that can represent the message of hope wherever you are.”

Greater collaboration is what will make a difference as the 18 regional media centers invest in producing more programs that can be shared and viewed by the more than 300 million people in the IAD territory, said Márquez. Distribution of the channel in local cable companies will increase its visibility and promote its content further, added Márquez.

“Hope Channel Inter-America will be strengthened as you promote the brand more from your local media center and the supportive programs you produce,” said Márquez. Keeping true to the brand guidelines and the image will increase visibility of the network in Inter-America which includes the HopeMedia and HopeRadio brands.

Hope Channel Inter-America, which is part of the Hope International network of television channels, runs 24-hours, seven days a week and broadcasts in English, Spanish and French. It can be viewed through Satellite Eutelsat 113W, Roku, online, and interamerica.tv.

The online advisory included presentations on the vision the channel has for investing in equipment, channel distribution, storytelling features, creative and quality programming, production tips, program formatting and exporting of files, a Q&A session and more.

The channel in itself is a miracle, said Márquez. Since its launch, programming in the Spanish channel has increased from 20 percent to 60 percent programming produced entirely by the IAD Office and several media centers across the territory. Other content is derived from the Hope Channel International network, while the

English channel continues to run the same programming as Hope Channel International, with some new spots and segments created in the IAD. The French channel Espérance TV Interamérique continues to run programming produced by the French Antilles Guiana Union headquartered in Martinique.

“Hope Channel Inter-America is your official channel and we are not a television channel in one city or province but a global television network of the Adventist Church,” said Márquez. “We must continue to work closer together, being innovators in presenting the message in different formats than from the pulpit,” he said.
