Tijuana, Mexico….[Libna Stevens/IAD]
A week-long evangelism crusade led by Adventist women drew over 1,300 people each night to the Centro de Convencion Mezzanine in Tijuana, Mexico from January 24-31.
The crusade, the first ever led out by women, was planned in part by church leaders in the Baja California Conference and seven district pastors in Tijuana. Featured guest speakers included Evelyn OmaZa, Children’s Ministries director for the church in Inter-America. She was assisted by a team of four women from the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarter office in Miami, Florida, who helped with crusade seminars, prayer chains, music and more.
According to Mrs. OmaZa, although the crusade was led by women, she says it was a team effort which combined the participation of all area pastors and conference office leaders, as well as the support of the IAD.
The event, called “Jesus is the Answer” (Jesus es la Solucion), was designed “to encourage women to get more involved in leading in evangelism efforts in their church,” she says.
The crusade took months to organize, says OmaZa. When it was over, 79 people were baptized, including several married couples. Over 250 attendees are now receiving Bible studies and preparing to join the church.
“To see our committed sisters ready to share their faith with all of those who don’t know the truth, was a true blessing.” OmaZa says. She says she hopes more women will be directly involved in leading in future crusade efforts.
