Cayenne, French Guiana…[IAD Staff]

During March 15-19, Division President Israel Leito and Vice President Elie Henry visited the French Antilles-Guiana Union on a whirlwind tour to its three fields–French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and Martinique. Meetings were held with church leaders, ministers and laypeople.

French Guiana is the smallest field in the French Antilles-Guiana Union, and recently they have crossed the mark of 2,000 members. There are needs in this mission and the struggle is how to reach the unreached people. A very aggressive evangelistic program is in place and also a definite plan for church expansion. Churches are being built and more workers are needed for this very small mission.

French Guiana was used in the past as a penal colony and right now it’s a section of the union that, unless you really have to go, you don’t go. Members and workers in this mission are very loyal and faithful to the church and are very encouraged by knowledge of the fact that the church is still interested in them and in their spiritual and general well-being.
