Miami, Florida, United States….[Libna Stevens/IAD]

Packed with major events and scheduled meetings, 2006 promises to be a year that will set the tone for the rest of the quinquennium throughout the church in the Inter-American Division.

During the first quarter alone, three major meetings will take place at the Division’s headquarter office in Miami.

The first one, just days away, will bring more than 100 church leaders from throughout the IAD as well as world church leaders.

The IAD Summit on Evangelization and Mission will take place on Jan. 15 with guest speaker Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the world church as well as several more leaders from the Adventist headquarters office in Silver Spring, Maryland. The summit will launch the IAD version of the Tell the World Evangelism paradigm set by the Adventist Church for 2006-2010. Seminars on the different programs under this initiative will be explained in detail as well as evangelism plans and incentives for the church leaders and membership of the IAD. More detailed information on this evangelism program can be found at https://recursing-golick.147-182-135-0.plesk.page/users/index.php?language=en&type=mainsection&id=4.

Youth Bible Bowl

On January 28th, the 15 young finalists representing the 15 regions of the IAD will travel to Caracas, Venezuela for the final competition. The finalists were among hundreds of youth throughout the division who studied the book “Messages to Young People” by Ellen G. White, since last summer.

The competition is part of a division-wide initiative implemented by the Youth department to get the youth involved in the study of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

The final event will be streamed live through the internet. Prizes will include a full scholarship to Montemorelos University or Northern Caribbean University as well as upcoming Leadership and Prayer Conference to be held in Miami, Florida. Leadership and Prayer Conference

Early in March, nearly 300 church leaders from the Division territory will travel to Miami, for a Leadership and Prayer Conference. Church leaders will include all church officers from each union and fields of Inter-America.

IAD’s Prayer conference will take place on March 12-13 for church leaders to give earnest study of the issue of prayer and a life of prayer. The conference will focus on leaders to depend upon the Lord more than ever before to do the work entrusted to them, as well as theological issues affecting prayer, rekindle and revitalize the membership in attending the weekly prayer meetings and help membership fall in love with a prayer life. The leadership conference, which will continue March 12-13, will review leadership practices and their effect on the church as well as training of newly-elected leaders, and promoting of continuing education seminars through the territory every two years.

With its 2.6 million membership reached during the last five-year period, the church leadership in Inter-America with the implementation of new evangelism plans and programs looks to surpass the 3 million membership at the end of the current quinquennium, which will end in 2010.
