Hundreds of young Seventh-day Adventists across the Inter-American Division (IAD) will receive special training on April 28 as the church’s One Year in Mission (OYiM) initiative gets underway. The initiative sends young people on a one-year mission assignment, or a shorter period of time in an area where there is no Adventist presence.
“It is important that young people understand the importance of what it means to be a missionary and how to be a witness and prepare others for Jesus’ Soon Coming,” said Pastor Al Powell, youth ministries director for the church in Inter-America.
According to Powell, the church across IAD’s major church regions, or unions, are investing funds to prepare young people to be active in missionary activity and evangelism across the territory and around the world.
Training will include presentations from Adventist world church youth leaders as well as IAD leaders who will teach witnessing, leading a Bible study, using technology, impacting the community with health activities, preparing evangelistic campaigns, and more.
The online training will take place on Sabbath, Apr. 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Miami Time) in English, Spanish and French at webcast.interamerica.org
