Students across Seventh-day Adventist schools and universities throughout the Inter-American Division (IAD) territory will set aside their studies to spend a day in prayer and worship on Mar. 7. The special day is taking place for the third consecutive year. Administrators, principals and teachers will take part in promoting spiritual revival among hundreds of their pupils.

“Our aim in Adventist education continues to be to aid students in establishing a closer relationship with God,” says Dr. Gamaliel Florez, education director for the church in Inter-America.

Students and teachers will spend time praying together, reflecting on the benefits of prayer, worshiping together and witnessing in their communities, according to Florez, who says more than 1,000 primary, secondary and university campuses will take part in the special day of prayer.

Church leaders at the IAD Headquarter Office in Miami, Florida, will travel to dozens of schools and universities to worship and pray with students.

In Puerto Rico’s Antillian Adventist University, more than 1,000 students, parents and church leaders in the surrounding community are expected to attend a day full of activities throughout its campus in Mayaguez.

“We are having more than six stations where our students can pray, worship, read the Bible in several languages, text verses to their friends, write their prayer requests, view drama performances, and gather for a special assembly,” said Pastor Abiezer Rodriguez, university pastor and organizer of the day’s activities at the university.

According to Rodriguez, the day’s activities are part of a week of prayer that has been in full force early this week and one that seeks to minister to the dozens of students who have not yet decided to follow Jesus.

The activities at the university will be streamed live over the internet beginning at 10:15 a.m. Puerto Rico Time or 9:15 a.m. (Miami Time). To view the webcast, go to www.uaa.edu

Elsewhere in Inter-America, students will engage in witnessing activities with authorities and leaders of the community and more.
