On October 8, the National Commission of Education, Communication, Culture and Sports in Nicaragua awarded a special recognition to the Central American Adventist University, headquartered in Costa Rica, for its contribution in educating more than 500 Nicaraguan-borne students who studied in the Adventist institution throughout the decades.
Dr. Orlando Mayorga, senator of the country and an active Seventh-day Adventist, along with other government officials, presented a plaque to Dr. Herminia Perla, president of the university as well as union and local church leaders were also recognized during the ceremony at the National Assembly for the Senate Headquarters in Managua.
The event was covered by the local television and newspapers.
Established in 1927, Central American Adventist University offers many degrees in theology, nursing and business administration, among others, and offers master’s degrees in its extension program with Montemorelos University.
