Adventist Students Across Inter-America Set for Bible Contest

Finalists from across Inter-America will compete online Sept. 22, testing their knowledge of Genesis and Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets.

Students from across the Inter-American Division (IAD) are preparing to put their Bible knowledge to the test during the Adventist Virtual Library Bible Contest on Sept. 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Miami Time.

The final competition will be hosted from Puebla, Mexico, headquarters of the Inter-Oceanic Mexican Union, while finalists connect online from their respective schools or designated sites across the territory. Each student advanced through competitions at the school, local field, and union levels to reach the division finale.

Now in its second year at the division level, the contest is part of the Adventist Virtual Library’s initiative to encourage students to develop consistent reading habits and deepen their relationship with God.

Yanet Cima, who oversees the Adventist Virtual Library in the IAD, said participation has grown since last year, with greater involvement from unions, schools, education leaders, and library coordinators.

“There is more enthusiasm, more participation, more involvement and more interest,” she said.

This year, finalists will be tested on the first 20 chapters of Genesis and chapters 2 and 3 of Ellen G. White’s Patriarchs and Prophets.

Students have been preparing for months through a reading program that follows the different academic calendars across the territory. The assigned material is available through the Adventist Virtual Library, allowing students to study from a phone, tablet, or computer at any time.

The final contest will feature 40 multiple-choice questions using the IAD’s Bible Connection software, with results determined by correct answers and response time.

But the purpose of the competition goes beyond determining a winner, she said.

“First, the students develop the habit of reading,” Cima said. “And second, through that reading habit, we bring them closer to God.”

The digital format is an important part of that effort, she added, because students can access the reading material wherever they are and at any time.

Broadcast From Puebla

This year’s program will originate from the Inter-Oceanic Mexican Union headquarters in Puebla. Students and teachers from Carmen Serdán Adventist School will attend the program, and a student group will take part in the live finale event.

Finalists will compete remotely from across the IAD territory.

The 2026 Adventist Virtual Library Bible Contest will be broadcast live on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:00 p.m. Miami Time at webcast.interamerica.org.
