Church leaders and staff of the Inter-American Division Headquarter office kicked off the new year with a special worship program on Jan. 4. The guest speaker was Ismael Castillo, president of Montemorelos University in Mexico. Andrea AcuZa, a student from Limon, Costa Rica, provided the worship in music.

Castillos’ message focused on Psalm 23 and the peace, guidance and assurance that Jesus the True Shepherd can give us as we continue to labor for the church in this disaster-stricken world.

“God has not promised to free us from calamities, disasters and treacherous paths, but He has promised us to give us peace from fear,” he said. “It is my desire that we remain in Jesus so He can nurture us into proper pastures this year.”

The program continued with a prayer session among the staff for God’s guidance in the work of Inter-America and the World Church for 2005. The service concluded with a Commissioning service for eight church leaders at the headquarter office who carry significant leadership responsibilities in the church. (See full story on the web).
