“I am thankful to God for the way He has provided the resources throughout the entire Inter-American Division, (IAD)” said Filiberto Verduzco, treasurer of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Inter-America.

Verduzco made his comments while reporting the 2006 Treasurer’s Report to IAD Executive Committee members at they church’s year-end meetings held in Acapulco, Mexico, on Oct. 24.

Verduzco strongly emphasized the high level of commitment that the church membership in Inter-America has toward the fulfilment of the mission of the church.

During the last year, he reported that there was an 18% tithe increase throughout the territory of the division. In fact, during the last 13 years, the church membership in the IAD has grown an average of 5.56%, while tithe has grown 23% above membership.

In his report, Verduzco stated that Inter-America, with its soft currencies in 37 countries, grows more in terms of percentage than in the rest of the world divisions.

“The average growth of tithe worldwide is 5.66%, in North America it is 4.83% and the rest of the world divisions have an average growth of 7.16%. But the Inter-American Division grows at 7.29%,” said Verduzco.

In mission offerings, he continued, an increase of 33.72% is reflected comparing August of 2006 to August of 2005.

With the fast growing membership nearing 2.8 million in the territory, Verduzco hopes that tithe will grow 8% more during the next five years.

As of December 2005, the IAD had a 257% operating capital and 243% liquidity. The goal is to have 250% on both indexes.

Verduzco thanked the faithfulness of the membership of Inter-America and to his teamwork, and above all God.

“We should not fear the future in regards to the provision of financial resources for the advancement of God’s work…because in the way He has done it in the past, the same way God will provide the resources for the future,” he said.

The treasurer continued to present to the delegates the IAD financial statement as of Sep. 30. Also, the auditor’s report was presented to those present as well as the budget for 2007. These documents were approved by the committee.
