Inter-America began it’s eighth annual convention of the Adventist Laymen’s and Services Industries (ASI) yesterday in Cancun, Mexico. Local government officials and regional church leaders welcomed the nearly 200 delegates to this tourist rich city.

Opening day highlights included a one-hour musical folk dance presentation, a parade of flags from each ASI chapter represented at the convention, a musical concert, and special spiritual message by Pastor David Javier Perez, president of the church in South Mexico.

During his a short yet straight message to Seventh-day Adventist professionals, Pastor Javier reminded the delegates to continue their commitment by sharing God’s kind love to others.

“Share Jesus love and kindness as you witness in your business,” he said. “Continue being committed to helping others in need.”

Sharing Christ in the market place, networking, and becoming better businessmen and professionals is one of the main goals of the convention, organizers said.

A variety of seminars will be presented during the following days on topics such as professional development, healthier living, reaching upper classes as well as managing a business, and others.

The ASI convention will continue through Aug. 11.
