October 28, 2009 – Miami, Florida, United States…[Libna Stevens/IAD]

In just a few days the traveling Bible, which has traveled around part of the globe as part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's Follow the Bible initiative, will make its way to the Inter-American Division (IAD) headquarters in Miami, Florida.

The special book has already traveled through more than 100 countries. It will be transferred to the IAD by South American Division leaders in a special ceremony during Inter-America's Executive Committee on Nov. 2, 2009. A ceremony is scheduled to be streamed live over the internet.

The traveling Bible will continue its entrance into the Division territory beginning with North Mexico, where a community impact celebration is scheduled in the Macro Plaza-a well-known park in the city of Monterrey. The Bible will then journey throughout the 17 church regions for the next 10 weeks until January 10, 2010. During the Nov. 2 live ceremony, top church leaders from each region will receive a replica of the large Bible and will recommit to a renewed mission to teach and uphold the Holy Scriptures in their respective regions.

The launch of the program was made during its executive committee meetings in November of 2008 to emphasize the power and the importance of the Scriptures as church leaders led the church.

Thousands of special magazines published by Inter-America's publishing houses IADPA and GEMA will be distributed as the traveling Bible enters each union territory in the coming weeks.

Commemorative activities already taking place throughout Inter-America include Bible reading and Bible transcribing marathons, marches, special Bible-focused magazines, flyers, and more.

Inter-America's Follow the Bible launch ceremony will be held Nov. 2, at 11:00 a.m. (Daylight's Savings Time or Miami Time).
